PostHeaderIcon How to Install Furring Strips to Concrete Walls

Wall Care, Furring Strip, Concrete WallFurring strips are a must for your basement. These strips are used in the concrete walls in order to make them sheet rocked.

Installing furring strips require expertise. You require dried wood studs which are essentially of 2”x3” or 2”x2” in size. Apart from that, you require glue and nails in order to attach the furring strips to the concrete walls. You need to place the studs on the 16 inches centers. Make sure that the studs are as long as the size of the wall.

In case you are using 2”x3” furring strips, the ideal way is to apply the glue on the side that is wider than the other sides. The glue should be applied on the bottom plate which has the effect of pressure. Once you have the bottom ready use the same process to attach the vertical studs. You have to wait for sometime before the glue gets dried up. After that is done, the furring strip gets fastened.
