Retaining walls
Retaining walls prevent the soil and rocks from entering the compound or a building. These walls are also useful in preventing the water from entering the restricted area. Retaining walls are essential to prevent the main building or the roads to get damaged by land slides or soil erosion.
These walls comprise of a combination of stone, bricks, masonry, vinyl, steel and some chemicals if required in order to fortify the walls. When constructing the Retaining walls, you have to take care of a few things. The strength of the walls is vital. These walls have to bear great deal of pressure from soil, stones, water and heavy winds. If it cannot sustain that high amount of pressure, the walls will crack and eventually break. Thus, when constructing the walls, the angle that it makes with the ground surface, the dimensions, the ingredients and the purpose of the walls must first be evaluated and analyzed. There are many types of Retaining walls which include gravity walls, anchored walls, piling walls and cantilever walls.
